Welcome to Old Nick’s Tavern, home of Horncastle Ales, where we’re fanatical about delivering the highest quality in traditional real ale. Launched in 2014, Horncastle Ales was the brainchild of Ross & Sally Ellis of Old Nick’s Tavern who both have a burning passion for real ale, live music and traditional pub games.
Built in 1752 as a coaching house on what is now the A153 from Horncastle to Louth, Old Nick’s Tavern was originally known as ‘The New Inn’. Over 250 years later, with the building being one of the few original buildings in Horncastle, the pub is still offering a warm welcome to visitors and regulars alike, providing a comfortable environment, great beer and a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
Without a doubt, Old Nick’s Tavern is one of Horncastle’s most popular Live Music Venue, hosting artists from all over the World. Bands from as far as Australia have flown over, just to play at Old Nick’s Tavern. All musical tastes are catered for with artists providing live music ranging from rock and metal to blues and acoustic sets. For those with a musical touch there is also a weekly ‘Jam Night’ held every Wednesday from 20:30, again catering for a wide range of musical tastes. With all musical genres catered for, Old Nick’s Tavern could well be a contender for ‘Lincolnshire’s Premier Live Music Venue’, however, what is a certainty is that Old Nick’s Tavern is the place to be for all that love live music.
Ross & Sally are greatly involved in the Darts teams that represent Old Nick’s Tavern in the Coningsby & District Darts League plus the Southwold Village Darts League.
Although we do not serve food at present there is a good choice of snacks.
